Valentine's Cards

I know that there is still a month until Valentine's, but I'm excited about my new "project," if you will.

I spend extra time at Morghan's school when I get off of work early. So I thought that instead of my usual hanging out with kids playing I could get them in on a project! My thought is to make Valentine's card for the children at St Jude's. I'm going to get all the kiddos at her school(that can participate) to help put together these cards for those who will be in the hospital.

If you work with children (teacher, day care, etc) and would like to participate that would be awesome. Even if you just know a group of adults that would like to join in! If you do want to participate please make sure that...

* Cards are a Valentine theme.
* Cards can't have anything about 'Get Well Soon', 'Feel Better', or anything reminding them of being sick. (Only Valentine Cards)
* Try to make cards that can be used for any gender or age.
* You can include a message in the inside, but please remember, nothing reminding them of being sick. (Maybe just a Valentine sentiment.)
*You can sign your name and where you are from.

I plan to mail the cards on February 5th.
E-mail me at ames0486@yahoo.com if you would like to participate and I can give you my mailing address to send the cards.

Giving Back

So far 2010 has been some smooth sailing.
I kept my resolutions simple, and manageable. (Most of them!)

1.) Volunteer/Give Back
2.) Pray more often
3.) Actually go on our belated honeymoon (5 years later)
4.) The cliche lose weight.
5.) Getting Pregnant with our 2nd/Last baby

4 & 5 don't really go hand in hand. None the less...

Volunteer/Give Back:
To start with I became a foster mom... (*wait for it*)...for dogs! There are times when the shelter is just too full and they don't have any room. So my foster dog was Schooner. He's a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, and the sweetest boy ever. He weighs in at a whopping 95 pounds of love. 12 days in to this new year and I couldn't send him back to the shelter. He had been in 4 other foster homes and I didn't want to put him through it anymore, so today we adopted him. I'm thrilled to add a needy pet in to our family. Being that Schooner was the name the shelter gave him, we decided to ditch it. He didn't listen to it or anything that sounded remotely like it. His new name is Jagermeister. Jager for short. He has the BEST personality. What makes me laugh the most is that he thinks he is too good for dog treats or bones. Give him a ball or rope and he could not possibly be any happier. I can't wait till summer to take him to the beach and watch how much fun he has! :) I plan to volunteer at the shelter in the spring.

Another way I would like to give back is by doing a monthly contribution to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital. The place that "won't turn you away because of your inability to pay." Being a mom, I can't not even begin to think of what parents go through when the doctor tells you there is something wrong with your child. I'm thankful everyday that Morghan has not had to experience the things those children have. We don't make that much money, but what we can afford, we intend to contribute.

Honeymoon:
After much debate between a winter or summer "honeymoon," we made the decision to go on a cruise. Our ship sails on May 30th and we could not possibly be any more excited about this! Morghan gets to stay with her Granna and PawPaw while Chase and I finally have a much needed vacation all to ourselves.

An Icy Nightmare

Just like anywhere else in the country right now, we are having a freak cold front that has kept the temp. down in the 20's-30's. Yesterday we breached freezing for 2 hours (yay!).

There is no running water in the house and hasn't been since yesterday morning. The only exception being that you CAN in fact flush the toilet and water dribbles out of the bathroom faucet.

Dishes are beginning to pile up, never mind the never ending laundry that is now at a complete standstill. I joked to Chase about using the bottled water, and gallons from our Hurricane Evac kit. Truth is, there's not enough to wash and rinse the dishes. I have no clue what I'm supposed to do with all of our work clothes that need to be washed!

To top things off our heater is on the fritz. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Friday morning the thermostat couldn't even register the temp in the house it was so cold. The thermostat registers from 55-95, so you can imagine it was pretty damn cold in this house!

I'm really hoping I can figure something out, because this weather is getting ridiculous.

W.A.H.M.

Working
At
Home
Mom

That's what I want to do. I've been at my current job for 2 years now. While I enjoy what I do, I'm finding it hard to keep going. Scheduling is getting tight, thus I am losing hours slowly yet surely. I truly miss the 40+ hour work weeks. Right now I hold at around 12-18 hours a week, and I have to fight for it. Yes it has become that awful. When you consider that my paychecks cover the cost of day care in addition to play money, it hits a little hard.

I would truly love the ability to work from home, on my own time. I've thought about picking my camera back up, even though its not a very popular season with all the cold weather. I've spent the past week searching the internet for a reliable, legitimate job to do from home. I've yet to have anything surface that even remotely intrigues me.

I wish I could do something along the lines of photography and graphic design since I enjoy those the most.

Only time will tell.

Hello 2010

So far 2010 has started off GREAT!

I'm so optimisitic right now and it just got better today financially!
I'm in such a great mood today it amazing!

Not even the grouch from the restaurant can bring me down.

Basically this is how it went down...

Morghan slept in till 11am having not gone to bed until 2am courtesy of the New Year.

We got up and made it to IHOP around 12ish. There was a bit of a wait and then suddenly 4 groups were called back at once and we were all sat at 4 tables in a row. Our sever drops off our drinks and gets ready to take our order with the scrooge next to use starts complaining about how they should have their order taken first because (and I quote) "We should have our orders taken first seeing as we were waiting up front long before they walked through the door." ARE YOU SERIOUS!? First of all, the server just got 4 tables at one time and has no way of knowing who crossed the threshold first. Secondly, its a new year and you wanna start of like a grump?

Chase and I kept laughing it off. At one point it was over heard that their little boy is 4 years old and they were trying to get him to say the months of the year, days of the week, and counting. This kid clearly didn't want to participate and wasn't doing so great.

Morghan can hear them.
Morghan begins singing a song with the months of the year.
Morghan tells us her birthday.
Morghan names the days of the week.
Morghan begins counting to 10 in Spanish.

I am trying so hard not to laugh as I see the mom give ugly glares in our direction.
All of breakfast/lunch Chase and I were not once disturbed by her ugly attitude towards everyone, including the server. We felt bad for our server and constantly kept happy conversations with her. So in starting of the new year we tipped more than enough both our table and the Grinch next to us. I had a pretty good feeling the poor server wasn't going to get much as demanding and grouchy as that lady was.

Some people may say I'm mean, rude, immature.
I wasn't going to let that lady ruin my day.
I was going to play it up and have fun with it.

Bring it on 2010! I'm ready and willing!
